Hi Tom,

indolence in this context means "absence of pain".

I think this is the real common goal of us human beings. Leaving the emotional rollercoaster, becoming calm by striving for indolence.

I hope you have an idea of what I'm trying to say?

Yours,

Hauke

I'm just curious why you keep using the word "indolence", referring to reaching new levels of indolence. I'm reading it as though you're saying, "Achieve new levels of laziness", which I'm sure you're not. Can you explain your reasoning for using that word? Thanks!

BTW, great article, I completely agree! Not exactly a common view, but I believe it is the correct one.

Hi Drejjmit,

thanks for your interest! Of course I can explain my conclusion a little more:

I think most people stop heading towards their personal dreams and goals because
they give up too early. Now, why do they give up so early ?

They expect too much in too less time. They are extremely motivated at the beginning of implementing
a new habit. They strive for a new way of life and a new world of experiences and feelings.
That's perfectly normal as long as they use this energy to find and to form their goals.

But as soon as they are waiting for such feelings to arrive in their reality they get disappointed rapidly.

Why? Because mental images are always of another quality than real experiences.
Mental images can suggest you to live in a world of your dreams. Without sorrows and any pain.
And here is the problem. This world does not exist.

So effective people know that. They use mental images to generate goals and to get the right
direction in their lives.

They even use these powerful feelings while looking at their mental images in order to identify goals
that match their personality, their personal traits and their deep personal human wishes they want to realize in this world.

But deep inside them they're always aware of the fact that reality feels not quite the same.
They also know about the time such changes may take.

That doesn't mean goals and dreams are something bad, far away from that!

But this attitude prevents you from becoming disappointed too early and it prevents you from losing your goals out of sight
just because your expected "paradise" does not seem to appear. It will appear. But it will feel different.

Very often this takes quite a long time and hard work.
Very often it doesn't appear so spectacular like your mental images want to make
you believe.

I told you something about role models in order to internalize the insights above.
Please have a close look at you personal role models. Do they live in a "paradise on earth"?
Is their life really so spectacular as you've thought at first?

I guess this is not the case. But nevertheless I would make a bet that your role models are
heading towards great goals while improving their personal circumstances stepwise with nothing than
hard work, patience and great self-discipline.

Self-Discipline means heading for your goals with patience by preventing you from continuous
comparison with your exaggerated expectations.

Let's discuss about that :-)

Yours,

Hauke

Hi Piter!

Thank you for these kind words! Yes, this blog is my favourite hobby.
It's a great fun for me to share my personal experiences about all the fascinating issues and topics
about management, leadership and personal development with other interested folks.

Sometimes I experience something interesting or simply confusing. I think about it and try
to find adequate solutions for humans who probably have experienced something very similar
in their lives as leader of themselves and other humans.

Sometimes I just want to discuss a content in order to give new perspectives or even to
receive a new one for myself.

So either way, your comment is exactly what makes this blog a worthwile and pleasant
hobby for me :-) Thanks a lot! I hope we will discuss a lot of the presented content on this site.

So come back soon and let me know your opinions and thoughts!

Yours,
Hauke
